I am a writer, researcher, and social media manager with two decades of experience in administrative and managerial roles for local and national arts and cultural organizations.
My full-time job recently ended for pandemic-related reasons, and I am looking for freelance opportunities using any/all of the stuff I learned in my 12 years as I transition to a new career writing trivia, doing research, and, hopefully, using my history degrees.
Among my many tasks in my 12 years as General Manager at one of Canada’s premiere arthouse movie theatres, the ByTowne Cinema (closing in December 2020 until new owners are found/the pandemic is over):
+ Research, writing, proofreading, and layout for the ByTowne guide, the bimonthly program to the cinema’s film line-up.
+ Social media management, running the cinema’s account on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and creating content for all three (writing, images, video).
+ Customer support (ie. being the unofficial help desk) for patrons with questions about ticketing, films, and other ByTowne business.
+ Press communications, including organizing media screenings, and announcing new films to local journalists and critics.
