I did a genius thing and didn’t set my alarm properly. Or my phone has gremlins.

At any rate, I slept in until 8am, which was unwise as I wanted to run, and write, and stop for groceries for this week’s lunches before work. I can do two of these things. Maybe I can squeeze an extra several km into my bike ride to (slightly) make up for not doing the other.

Anyway, I don’t have time to write much today, but I wanted to make a shoutout to Canadian Television. Why? Because Aaron Sorkin’s “The Newsroom” premieres soon and people really are losing their shit about it. It looks intriguing.

But you know what was great? Ken Finkleman’s “The Newsroom”, which really was an innovation. This premiered in the late 1990s, even before “The Office” made single-camera all the rage in North American television. It’s one of the best shows ever to come out of Canada. Also? Having interned in a newsroom? This is pretty much exactly what’s it’s like. My boss was not as big an ass, but everyone was just as jaded. Watch this.

Every time I see a trailer for the new “The Newsroom”, I get tempted to buy a DVD box set of the old one. Was about the order it today, but have found that it is out of print. Dag nabbit. Maybe I’ll get “Slings and Arrows” instead.
