Today I learned that the longest place name in the world is not Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (58 letters) in Wales, but Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu (85 letters) in New Zealand.

The longest place name in Canada is Pekwachnamaykoskwaskwaypinwanik in Manitoba, a mere 31 letters. Slightly disappointing.
