That Mary Tyler Moore hat flippy thing.

(Holidailies Day #4.)

Until I get my term paper, exam, and pub quiz writing done, I fear most of my Holidailies entries will be like this. That’s fine, right? Writing is writing?

Thing about my (cat’s) life
Twelve days after her spay, Bea is back to her usual pesky, kitteny self and has been pulling the Hamish special: Climbing onto all the high places with breakable things and scaring the crap out of me. She’s also learned to scale the drying rack so she can hang with our socks. I had forgotten what it was like to have a cat, especially one of the not-old, not-lazy, not-enormous variety. She presently has, oh, eight plastic springs missing SOMEWHERE in the house. A black hole of plastic scraps. A cat toy Narnia. Or perhaps they’ve ascended and they’ll all turn up three days from now.

Thing you might find interesting
A fake U.S. Embassy in Ghana was issuing visas. FOR TEN YEARS. Until this week, when it was shut down.

Thing you might find less interesting
Two other members of my pub quiz team can still sing this entire commercial. Why was this girl dressed so much like Small Wonder?

Thing you might have missed in the news because of that shit going down that might bring the world to an end
The prime ministers of Italy and New Zealand both resigned today because some politicians will step aside when the public wants them to and/or they know their mandate is invalid.

Thing you might have missed in the news because it isn’t apocalyptic
Attendance was down in the St. John’s Newfoundland Santa Claus parade, with only 40000 people, or, y’know, roughly 40% of the city’s population showing up. They raised $8000 and collected almost eight tonnes of food for local charities. Newfoundland is the fourth most generous province, charitable donation-to-income ratio-wise, in Canada.
