(Yes, I did not post yesterday. I had important business. Like being in my bed by 9:30.)

For the most part, I’m just winging it as far as work social media goes. I have some regular things (making the FB cover photo a picture of that week’s marquee, tweeting showtimes daily (mostly), but the rest is a mix of fortuitousness (good reviews/articles) and fun things (other movie or local news) our customers/followers may enjoy.

If there’s a special event on, sure, we’ll tweet about it slightly more, but because I have limits, and I know others do too, I make a point of not harping. The cinema has a set number of followers. Repeating the same information over and over to a captive audience is a) naggy and b) fairly pointless.

I can’t give specifics, but there have been a few cinema-adjacent events in the last few months where the organizers don’t seem to get that. Because the cinema gets copied on so many of these posts and tweets, I get alerts for them. Dozens of them. Often on the same day. Sometimes in the same hour.

‘THIS ON MOVIE SCREEN LATER YES.’
‘TICKETS STILL AVAILABLE FOR THE THING.’
‘HAY GUYZ I KNOW I JUST SAID THIS TEN MINUTES AGO BUT THIS EVENT IS STILL HAPPENING.’

Not fucking helpful. You have 34/250/5431 followers. THEY GET IT.

In related news, I need to turn off my phone alerts overnight because that fucking chirping damned bird harasses me in the middle of the night sometimes, because people don’t seem to get that tweeting for the 3am crowd is probably not that beneficial. Ain’t no one got time for that.
